Airport Extreme or 500gb Time Cpsule

Is there a reason I would choose the AirPort Extreme Base Station over the Time Capsule - 500GB? I am thinking the Time Capsule - 500GB is the better way to go but thought i would get some opinions.

Get the airport extreme you can attach a external harddrive up to it's usb port that way its more future proof

That's a great deal on the TC. If I were you, I would go that route. The TC has a USB out on it as well - so you can always add another drive.

Right now I have a 1TB TC with a 1TB WD HD attached to it.

Or, crack it open and add a different drive down the road.

If you already have an external drive that you could use, get the airport. if not, i'd say get the TC.

Is that the Dual Band Simul on the TC? If not, then I would get the AEBS with Dual Band Simul.

The TC is a great device and if it is dual band then all the better.

I had a 500GB Time Capsule, not only was it a terrible router (constantly dropping connections and failing to authenticate devices not made by Apple) but the internal hard drive failed after a couple of months.

I was lucky that the Apple Store gave me a refund because it was a pile of junk. I got myself an awesome Linksys router for a quarter of the price and haven't looked back once.
