Quick question: I just ran a wired speed test direct from my modem and then plugged the modem into my Airport Extreme and did another speed test connecting via Airport. The wired speed test returned 50Mbps and the wireless only 35Mbps. Any ideas what would cause that? I put my MacBook Air 1 foot away from the Airport Extreme when I ran the test so it can't be an interference issue.

I DO have the Airport Extreme connected to the modem via a wall socket that runs to the modem in the other room, but that is wired with CAT5 wiring so it shouldn't cause any speed degradation at all.

The Airport Extreme is the 802.11n.

Wireless speeds are almost always slower than wired speeds on the same connection to the ISP.

Interference, multipath, etc. You can do your own research via Google and find out the multitude of reasons.
