Um.... Apple? Tiger's airport is fine. In fact, people are reverting back to it just to fix their problems with Leopard.

Focus on Leopard's airport issues!!!!!!!! Please!

I don't know what you've been smoking, but I sure don't remember people having "no problems" with Tiger's Airport. I remember there being a lot of significant dropping issues.

Not that I don't want them to also improve Leopard's Airport, but it was updated literally 1 week ago, so I don't see the issue--they are working on both. Why complain that they are working on Tiger? "Legacy" support is a good thing in my book.

Over the weekend I was having issues with drop outs, I can't wait to get home and leave it downloading anything to see if it says up.

AirPort certainly is not fine with Tiger. Ever since replacing my old G base station with the new N, my connectivity has been *****.

Tiger's airport drive has been having drop out issue when it's transferring massive data over airport... It's affects itune streaming from my macbook and bittorrent file download through airport. Hope this time apple fixes will not create more new issues!!! Or else I'm through with apple products!

with 10.4.11 my airport went crap. it's partly why i upgraded to leopard.

I've just installed this update on my macbook and now I can't connect to my network. When I try to connect it just stys that there was an error connecting.. then when I click ok the signal level goes to full and the drops to zero.

Does anyone know how to uninstall this update please? Thanks.

I totally agree! I think there was a security patch involved that created a condition of buffer overflow, everything seemed to be still working, but the incoming data stream would just STOP.

I've been keeping my eye cocked for this fix.

Has anyone ever explained why airport doesn't work so well for so many people..? There must be a load of causes, but I've never had any issues with any of the versions using a snow Airport, and now an Airport Extreme, Panther, Tiger, Leopard etc, G3 ibook, G4 Powermac, G5 Powermac, Macbook, Macbook Pro.. All revisions of the airport firmware since OS 10.1... I guess some people just get really lucky. :D

Software shouldnt be making signals drop/undrop surely? how does this stuff work/not work..? Sorry if this seems a dumb question, it's just got me interested.

hahahahaha...

I'm on tiger and my airport wont even connect if I'm not connected to my power adapter. It really defeats the point of wireless. Hopefully this update helps.

I don't think I want this update then! Seems to make matter worst!

Somehow seeing the number of Airport updates there have been and the mixed reviews, I get the feeling that Apple fixes one problem in each Airport update only to create another one or even two. Thankfully it seems to be okay for me so far. It's kind of strange though. Usually when I update, it is less reliable to begin with, but seems to stabilize after a day. Like it needs a break in period to make itself at home or something.

slow but much better range

i find that certain pages take longer to load but i can live with that as my work place where i do research for various articles has no internet but somehow a wireless flow exists. until now i could only pick it up with my ipod touch but after the update, i connect wit a full 4 bars of signal strength and after a speed test, up to 4500kpbs download speed and 999 upload.

i am quite impressed.

i havent had any problem whatsoever with the aebs for over 6 months now.
mind you, i do a lot of reads and writes, with wireless-n, of course, to a drobo connected to it.
