    I moved my router a few days ago (to a place that is nominally closer to the iMac, and allows me to have at least one computer wired) and now I'm having intermittent Airport problems on my iMac.

    I get errors like
    Code:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: WirelessAssociate2() = 88001006 for network [NOT MY NETWORK SSID]. The operation timed out
    and
    Code:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: Apple80211Scan() failed 6
    and
    Code:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: WirelessCreateScanResults() = 88001006
    Turning Airport off and on doesn't "fix" it, but I get back on line after a reboot. This seems so "Windows".

    I need a tool to help me optimize the position of my router, and AirStatz seems flaky, though so far it gives me the best info and may be partially responsible for the flakiness.

    I'm running "Mac OS X 10.4.9 (8P2137)" with all updates applied.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Is the move the only change to the network? Are there other machines on the network and are they having any troubles? As a start, I'd try reinstalling the 10.4.9 combo update. :)

    Yeah, unfortunately the move was the only change.

    It seems to have been improved after I upgraded firmware on my router and let it pick the channel to be on.

    Netstumbler is pretty close to what I wanted in a diagnostic tool, and it revealed a new network in my neighborhood on an adjacent channel, and it switched from my preferred channel 11 to channel 1, and so far it's "better", but my cordless phone will probably clobber it. :(
