Hi,

Here in Honduras there are free wifi hotspots in almost every fast food or decent restaurant or cafe. Right now I am at a popular cafe enjoying a fronzen mochachino and free Wifi.

In most of these places the internet works without any problems but there are a few that it will give me a message that says that there was an error connecting. I always assumed that it was due to a WEP password or some form of protection against unauthourized access. The other day this happened to me in a restaurant. I was with a friend of mine and she had her IBM laptop and she got online without a problem.

Could it be that the MBP signal is not as good or is this a platform issue?

Thanks

hmmm...

I could see that this could hinder airport's range, but if my mac does detect a wifi signal, how could the metal case hinder the connection. besides, I was in a small restaurant.
