Airport refresh any time soon?

Anyone have any idea if there might be an Airport Extreme/Time Capsule refresh soon? The last ones were refreshed in 2013 and I don't want to upgrade to what's a 3 year old model now...

Prior to current neglect, AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule were updated every 18 months. Lack of update could mean one of two things:

1. They are being discontinued, iPod style. Sell them as long as there are components and buyers.
2. They are being rethought.

If they are being rethought, my guess is WiFi mesh network system (Eero, Google Wifi, Luma) meets Apple Siri Speaker.

Buy a bunch, sprinkle them all over the house to expand both WiFi coverage and Always On Siri speakers. At least we can all dream.

Either way, I strongly suspect Time Capsule will be retired.

Yeah i couldn't wait so I bought an Asus AC68U Router, and turned it into an Access Point. Cheaper than an Airport anyway, and way better performance.

I turned off the WiFi in my old Time Capsule and just use it as a backup device to my mini, until I reconfigure my QNAP NAS for Time Machine backup.
