I can't stand the new airport status menu in Leopard. Instead of just showing the icon, now it's got a little timer that constantly ticks to show how long I've been connected to the internet.

I just want the icon, not the timer, and it appears that in order to have the icon, you have to have the timer.

Anyone know a fix for that?

I might have to just remove the status menu completely.

It doesn't do it for me, you must have a PPPoE connection. Try clicking on the name of your network, it should give you an option to remove the timer. I forget the exact name of the option but it should be there.
