I implemented this on my Mac Mini 2.4Ghz C2D (which is on all the time)

Canon:
MP150 (connected via USB)

HP
Laserjet 6P
Photosmart D7260

My wish is that this would work without needing a Mac. The two HP printers I have are both network printers with static IP addresses (the 6P is using a parallel-to-ethernet adapter). Would be nice to be able to print directly to them without having this hack work around.

I almost bought one of the newer HP ePrint printers, but once I read about how I needed to print to it (sending an email to the printer), I decided to check out other options. Really happy with this solution, but would like it to go one step further and print direct without needing a Mac.

No you got it wrong here....
Eprint= print from any mobile devices or computer anywhere in the world that can access email...(send job via email to the printer)
AirPrint= print from iOS devices WITHOUT a computer being involve...(iOS device and printer must be on the same network)

Appreciate the explanation, but wondering why when you visit the page:

http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/airprint.html

They only list HP printers. I guess I assumed that the ePrint feature was AirPrint. Easy to do.

I have an approved printed(HP) and a airport router and still no luck. I think I am giving up for now. Maybe later they will make it less complicated.

It works but it's not perfect... I'm using a canon pixma mg-6120 via wifi... When I press the action button (little arrow) and press print sometimes it won't detect my printer I have to do this action several times to get my printer to show up.... Printopia does the same thing... What about you guys when you press print do your iPad detects your printer the first time?

So is this an alternative to using those iOS apps which make use of a local PC/MAC as an intermediary to the printer?

Hype and rumors

Let me guess.

It only prints when your Mac is on, right? So it won't print when my MBP in closed?

Anyway, you can be assured that when Jobso is pulling out the iPad 2, the next hype after 2cams, FaceTime, more ram will be 5 (!!!) printer companies supporting AirPrint. So we have to wait till february.

Yeah but it's not ideal compared to the manual workaround (or using hacktivator) or HP iPrint right?
I mean it "requires" a PC/Mac intermediary to be turned-on, the others don't...

Anyone know if this works upgrading to 10.6.6? Does it need to be on/off before upgrade? Does it work at all on 10.6.6?
