I have two AirTags. One for each of my two pups.

Last week I was cross country in Newport Beach visiting my office for some meetings. According to my wife who was back here in New Hampshire, the AirTags on the dogs would occasionally chime out of the blue. I was not pinging them from my phone. She was concerned it was because I was away from them but since they were home and that is a "safe" zone, that should not happen (and I received no alerts on my phone that they were left behind).

My only explanation is that maybe I was doing something similar to a "pocket dial" but pinging the AirTags instead.

Is there any other explanation for this behavior?

Thanks!
Craig

Nope, sounds like they're doing what they should - separated from their owner, they chirp every so often in an attempt to be found.

Send feedback to Apple - yes, our known locations should be exempted from this behaviour.
