I know airtags beep when they're away from their owner's phone as an anti-stalking measure, but mine are beeping and draining battery during what I can only imagine is a pretty common use case. I have an airtag on an item that I typically leave at the office. About half the days I return in the morning, it's been beeping for god knows how long. ????

I thought the beeping was only supposed to happen if the AirTag was moving, for one.

I also don't feel like this use case is that odd/extreme that I should be experiencing a major flaw in the product. Is this a bug, and if so, has there been any discussion of a fix timeline? I'd rather not reduce my battery life to like a month instead of a year because the tag can't keep quiet. Oh, and I'd rather not announce my valuable item to the world either....

this is a frustrating flaw to run into, made worse by the fact that apple doesn't allow the user to set any parameters around when the tag should beep, etc.

there have been a couple of other reports of the same thing,

might want to try removing and re-adding the airtag, might help, but shouldn't hurt
or rebooting it by taking the battery out for a few seconds.
