My four pack showed up today…key rings arriving tomorrow. Pairing was about as painless as could be.

I use the Chipolo One spot tag on my keys, my cane (which I've been known to unwisely leave behind), and the card version of Chipolo in my wallet. In taking my evening walk a while ago, I received 'out of range' alerts on my iPhone telling me that I had left my keys and wallet behind (which I had). Another thing .. I can squeeze my Chipolo tag twice to find my iPhone (makes my iPhone sound like a loud Good Humor Ice Cream truck). I paid $50 tor the three of them.I still wonder why no one really considers the upcoming Chipolo ONE Spot as an alternative to AirTags and Tiles. It seems to be a fairly good alternative to AirTags and works with FIND MY. Which is great. It might not have all the functionalities but it surely is better integrated in the Apple Ecosystem than Tile and offers more privacy than the latter.
yes, exactly. But it should be a comparison that shows Tile is for example sharing data not only with partners, but also allows the to place cookies on your deviceYou mean like:
B. Location Data. Apple and its partners and licensees may provide certain services through the Apple Software that rely upon location information. To provide and improve Apple’s services, where available, Apple and its partners and licensees may transmit, collect, maintain, process and use your location data, including the real-time geographic location of your device or computer that you attempt to locate using the Apple Software, and you hereby agree and consent to Apple's and its partners' and licensors' collection, use, transmission, processing and maintenance of such location data to provide such services.
Tile at least names em, while Apple keeps it unnamed/open to share it to anyone they "partner" with.
Sometimes Tile uses third-party service providers. These third-party service providers may place cookies on your computer's hard drive or your mobile device's memory or use web beacons to collect or receive information from the Services and elsewhere on the internet and use that information to provide analytics and to target ads on Tile's behalf

I wish apple made a thinner airtag version to put in my wallet. I love my Tile credit card thing -- and it's waterproof LOL forsure washed it on accident a few times.I've used Tiles for many years and only once have I had a problem.
I'm forever mislaying my wallet or my keys, and Tile has saved me countless times from having to change locks or cancel cards.
Competition is always good for the market. Just look at Apple Music and Spotify. both have done well from Apple moving into this market and I think Tile is probably working hard behind the scenes to make Tile an even better experience.
I am tempted to buy an AirTag or two, just to see what they are like, but for now Tile is working fine for me.
Bingo. Too there’s the issue of the subscription cost with tile. It does include replacement batteries but it also requires everyone remembering to keep the Tile App loaded up on their Apple and Android devices so the “community” can know where the tagged stuff is. Maybe thats why i0S devices can’t be set up to automatically load apps like the tile app so you don’t have to remember to keep it on. On iOS devices the FindMy app can be set up to always be on.Tile vs Airtag is much like comparing smartwatches vs Apple Watch. If you’re invested into Apple ecosystem, then buying more Tiles is a waste of money and time. Instead replace your old and dying Tiles with more Airtags over time. And eventually becomes 100% Airtags.
It works okay, but needed an app for it to work properly. And 3rd party apps suck when it comes to reliability.
Sometimes the app won’t update because it doesn’t get used as often, resulting in loss of data, missing notifications, or not collecting location off your Tile. Which is catastrophic when it comes to a tracker.
Although I can agree that Tiles has more options and form factors for different placements and scenarios.
I would prefer too that it wasn’t necessary to buy a product so you can attach it to whatever you need to track. I’m waiting too for Apple to enable car tracking through CarPlay.I wish apple made a thinner airtag version to put in my wallet. If a true discriminator, I agree.@MacRumors It would be great to see the article updated with a privacy-comparison.

I'm late to the game. I've got four AirTags ordered. The reason I flipped from Tile is I got tired of setting off the alarm on my iPad and iPhone via my wallet regular Tile I have in my wallet, and the regular Tile I have on my key ring. But, Your point is well taken about having the ability to find your iPhone/iPad.If only it had a button to find the phone itself. That page feature comes in very handy at times.
just ping your phone from your watch, or use the play sound in findMY. Also, the AirTag sound is plenty loud (you can trigger from phone or watch, but not from MAC), I have it inside a suitcase, and you can clearly hear it when you are within 20 feet or so. If I updated my phone, I could use the NFC feature, but don't have that.I'm late to the game. I've got four AirTags ordered. I'm also worried that the AirTag won't be sound won't be loud enough for in-house searches. But I guess the map proximity thing would work.
