AirTags “not reachable” and some popping up as “unknown traveling with me”

With the exception of one tag, six others (and a Nomad tracker card) have stopped responding to sound requests or the Find request. All have brand new batteries.

They show up in the list with a last location of where I know them to be, with a last location time within the last 20 or so minutes but if I try to play sound or use the locate function, I get an “unreachable “ message.

Additionally, one of them just popped up a message as an “unknown AirTag” found traveling with me and THEN triggered an audible alert.

Thanks again. Appears that, at least for the short term, removing and resetting all the tags has resolved the issue

I had the same issue.

rebooting the phone sorted it

iOS 18 updates seem to leave things in weird states, I've had a couple times where things were very funky after an install, and had to reboot. when I was having AirTag issues, also was having airpod issues.

I just got this tonight. Updated to iOS 18.2.

Got a notification that an AirTag is with me.

Played the sound and it’s the one on my keys.

The one listed for my keys says it’s unreachable lol.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Force restarting my phone didn’t fix it
