I wonder if this has something to do with joining the existing network. How far away is your original router? Could you try connecting to the airport express directly?

Very strange, it must have had a funny blip as it has been fine for the past 30 minutes....very odd

Hey

It has started happenning again, music is stopping and starting, like it is playing catchup or something, i have moved the airtunes adapter so it is further away from my TV etc and it is still happening. I have also increased the buffer size in itunes. I thought it may have been my mac, but i just tried it on my house mates windows PC but it does the same.....help!!

Your Mac has an Airport Extreme (802.11g) card, right? Because 802.11b (original Airport cards) is really insufficient for streaming music, thus you get a lot of buffering.

Hmm...

None of the TiBooks has airport extreme cards.
Good catch on the buffering idea.

I have just tried unplugging the coreless phone and it has worked for over an hour flawlessly.....has anyone else had issues with interference? can i ise my land line again or not? Or is this a fluke prehaps?

Thanks

Ok guys....i know this is getting very boring now but i have been playing with it it all night and have finally found what the problem is.

When airtunes is in the longe (15 ft from mt mac) it blips now and again.....when there is movement in between in mac and the airtunes......and sudden movement for say 5 seconds, it stops and starts, i sit down, and its fine. I then plug aitrunes in the same room as my mac, move around like a nutter and it is fine. What on earch could be causeing this bad interference (me simply moving) when it is only 15ft apart?

I finally realized what it was when i was listening to music with no blips for an hour or more, then my house mate walked into the room and immediatly is started to blip he then sat down and it stopped, then as a test he chucked his bag on the sofa (which is in near the wall that the music would pass through) and it blipped again.

Are there any thought on this....Please

To give you an idea how small the space is, the airtunes would be on the same wall as the TV (left) and the mac in behind the wall on the right)

one way to be sure the Airport Express will work fine with your router...
Kill the Wireless option on the original router (Enable :p) then plug the airport express in one of the available wired connections of your router and set it up as the only Wireless access point, and connect your computers onto that one... and if you ahve no other wired computer to your original router, jus setup your Express as the router, and sell the other one on eBay :p

but I guess you fixed it anyway ;)

about the lag in playback I don't have i but my G5 is at extreme speed... so that might be an issue...

But some years ago when I still had my B&WG3 & Ti-PowerbookG4 I had my iTunes library on the drive of the B&W and connected to that library trough my PowerBook wich was connected to my Stereo, and I had no lag... and it allso needed to get the data at 11Mbps Wireless... hmmz... maybe I had the buffer onto Highest but I can't remeber

J

PS: Human interference on radio signals??? it can happen... but i thought there is not that muchspace inbetween your mac & airport express... I can't help you on that one but as you could read above 11Mbps should be enough for streaming (it depends off course how large your files are, lossless or MP3/AAC encoding...

Same problem as you were having.

I have recently set up an Airport Extreme and Express network. I was having to switch back and forth between to the two to do surfing and play music.

I also tried to set up a WDS system and received the message about not being able to read my express when finishing with my update. I plan on trying the fix I read about here. I thought I had already tried it, and I was not seeing my express in the actual Itunes window as an option.

Currently I am using G5 2.5 and a G4 350 with old airport card. I know the old card works because I can set it up by itself and everything is grand. I simply have had a very difficult time connecting my Express station to join my Extreme network that already exists.

Any thoughts on what the best encryption to use, etc.? Could this area be the cause of the problem? I am new to networking, but have everything working, just not the exact way that I want it.

I will post another message when I get home to test out the fix on this thread.

peace,

Mark
