i cannot get my macbook pro to recognize my akai mpd24 for anything! I'm running on version 10.6.8 on my mac. the mpd works on my old mac which is 10.4.11 and a friend's computer which is 10.5.8 but not mines. I'm considering upgrading to 10.7 but i'm not sure if that will solve the problem. If nothing continues to happen, I will be buying an imac after i'm sure it will work with that too.

akai technical support had no idea how to help me (what's new.. smh) and i refuse to pay apple technical support 50 dollars just for an answer to a question.

Can someone please help me or give me some options on what to do??

Apple dropped PowerPC application support with 10.6 (though I had PowerPC applications that did work.) Lion definitely does not support ANY PP Applications I know of.

Could be something do to with that, generally if you find it not working with new software it's in the OS. Which means any new Mac may be a worse idea.

Bring your unit to a Mac store and try it on their computers if they'll let you. I have a feeling the support for whatever software that syncs with the unit just doesn't exist in the newer OS version.
