I never used it and had excellent battery life on all my Apple devices. MacOS and iPadOS and WatchOS have excellent built-in battery usage optimization algorithms. For example, my Apple Watch Ultra 2 charges only 80% automatically to prolong battery life. Why I would need a third party app to do same task?

I'm still using it on my 15" M3 Air and it's still limited to 80% but if I need more I'll charge it up. I've only calibrated my battery 2 times maybe since I got it at launch. It's saying my total battery capacity is now at 94%. MacOS itself reports 99% battery health.

It doesn't always work.

Yeah Apple has optimized it. For example, the actual % you see isn't the real battery charge. There is also a hardware %. You could be at 100% charge but really the battery is at something like 94%. So that's one way they optimize the performance/experience for users. They could do better though.

The only products that the 80% charging works on for me is my Watch and Airpods. They don't do it all the time though. In all my time owning an iPhone I've NEVER seen it do this. Same goes for iPad.

I'm still using Al Dente and probably will keep using it but as my Mac gets older I'll probably not care as much and just uninstall it. Not sure when I'll do it. It's not causing any harm but if Apple were to let users set charge limit manually like they do on iPhone then I'd delete it. I don't change the way I use my Mac... all I want to do is stop it charging at 80%.

Yeah convenient how apple allways reads it higher
