I'm usually not the person who posts these, I just happen to be in this section, reading the posts about Bowie and my wife sent me a message.

Alan Rickman, the British actor who played the brooding Professor Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films years after his film debut as the "Die Hard" villain Hans Gruber, has died after a short battle with cancer, a source familiar with his career said Thursday.

He was 69.

Loved Rickman, funny enough we just watched CBGBs, but I'm sure he'll mostly be remembered for Snape and Hans Gruber.

Yippee ki-yay.

I will remember him as Metatron, the Voice of God, in Dogma. Best movie ever. He was brilliant.

Hahahaha... Love that movie. One of my favorite Kevin Smith movies.

RIP Mr. Rickman....

Really sad news, gutted when I heard it earlier today :( Definitely watching Die Hard tonight as a send-off.

Cancer is absolutely horrible.

Terrible, terrible news that deeply saddens me. I was a huge fan of Alan Rickman's work. Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, Love, Actually, Harry Potter series. He made some fantastic films and added respectability to any project he was attached to.

How terribly tragically sad, and at the relatively young age of 69, too.

A terrific actor, and a man with a wonderful screen presence. One of my favourites, too. He was one of the few actors whose presence in a movie, or TV show, guaranteed my interest.

RIP Alan Rickman.

"When I find him, I will cut out his heart with a spoon!"
"Why a spoon Cousin? Why not an axe?"
"Because it's DULL, you twit. It'll hurt more!"

Sigh, first Lemmy, then Bowie, now Rickman.

**** cancer.

You folks summed it all very well. RIP A.R. You, your talents and what you left us in film will be remembered with admiration and thanks.
