Wouldn't any 3rd party "app" be useless, according to Apple's rules? I thought all apps had to completely shut down when they are closed. So for it to work, you could set a 3rd party alarm app but not close the program until the alarm time arrives? Meaning you couldn't answer calls, texts, or activate any other app?

I guess the app could create appointments that would then go off to remind you, but it would still be pretty pointless when the built in alarm clock has so many options

If the alarm still goes off, how is it possible that the phone is off?
"Alarm go off" I mean go on sorry! Ha.....I want to be able to have my phone OFF and still have the alarm WAKE me up!!!

And with my berry I would be able to have the phone OFF and the alarm would still go on and wake me up...

The only problem I have is that the alarms don't go off when the phone is off. I sometimes stay away from home and charger and wish to switch off the phone to save power....no can do as the alarm will fail.

Exactly....i just like to turn it off. Putting it in and out of airplane mode is annoying.

lol no i know what you mean...
It's just... the phone can't really be off if the alarm still goes off/or on or whatever.

To save power and not be bothered by callers turn phone to airplane mode. Turning the phone off turns everything off. I had a blackberry before and I'm very happy this is how the iphone works. Why?

I can't tell you how many times I packed my blackberry into my carryon luggage before an international flight, only to hear my alarm going off from inside the overhead bin while I'm strapped into my seat during meal service. I used to have to ensure the alarms were turned off, then I'd have to remember to turn them back on.

IMO this way is MUCH better.

I just want to be able to shut my phone off and have the alarm go off whether or not my phone is on or off. My berry used to do that...

My Samsung did that....freaked me out at first!! But that's not a common feature.

I would sleep right through iPhone's alarm...not loud enough!

Ditto

(sorry to wake this thread up from the dead)

I think the OPs question was is there a third party alarm app, which there are tons.

very immature of you all to go off ranting how you dont need another one, the built in works great

In all fairness - there are several alarm apps that allow, among other things, for you to use any of your iTunes music for your alarm...

He might have been wondering which of those is best...

really? my phones lourder than my alarm. my iphone has replaced my alarm clock since it's the only thing that wakes me up every day. Although, I do wish you could songs from the ipod.app instead of having to use ringtones. I've found myself making ringtones just to use as alarms.
