Hello helpful Macrumors Forums members!

The alarm app has no alarms set, yet the alarm goes off every day at 6am no matter what. The only way to stop it is to turn the phone off. Apple tech support was notified about this bug a year ago and said they "captured it" with their diagnosis software... yet it still has not been fixed.

iOS 15 did not fix it; it is still the same. Can anyone help? See video attached. The alarm does make sound, it's a piano jingle.

Just when you think you've heard it all. That is absolutely bizarre. At that point, I'd be doing a complete factory reset on the phone.

It sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.

Have you tried connecting your phone to a Mac computer and doing a Recovery Mode Update. This will only refresh the OS and not erase any user data. Make sure to select Update instead of Restore. Make sure that you do a backup first.

If that does not solve the issue then I would suggest that you do a Recovery Mode Restore. Setup your phone as a new device and manually install and setup your apps and preferences. If this bugged me as much as i think it would, I would do the thermal nuclear option as the last resort.

That’s my 2 cents.

Have you tried creating an alarm at 6 and then turning it off? Might flip a switch somewhere.

Hey, thanks you all for the responses.
I just tried creating the alarm for 6am and turning it on to see what happens. The alarm happened at 6am (This bug can be replicated when I manually change the date and time on the phone), but it only vibrated and didn't make sound.

I then turned off the newly created 6am alarm, tried again, and the phantom alarm with piano sound came back. So it didn't refresh it, but this was a good idea to try!

Next up is a recovery mode update. Thank you all for your help!

Did you check the sleep or health app to see if the alarm is configured there? If one got set it’s somewhat confusing to change or eliminate. Worth a look before doing a full reset.

Have you tried telling Siri to disable your 6AM alarm?
Good suggestion. I just tried this and it said it couldn't find the alarm.

Another good suggestion... Clock is "inactive" in Health's Sleep Schedule data sources, and Sleep Schedule is turned off. Within the clock app, "Sleep features" are fully turned off.

I have the exact same issue since upgrading IOS
Did any of the above methods work for you ?

Since upgrading to iOS 16? Never found a solution. Apple tech support was informed about it but never followed through. We didn't push the issue but could have in order to get a new phone / etc.
