Alarms have been silenced

For the last two days my itouch alarms have been silenced for some reason. The alarm activates at the correct time but the alarm is inaudible. When I go back in to reset the alarm or to listen to an alarm sound, the alarm sound indicated is in faded text.....as in not available or turned off.

I have check settings, sounds and anything else I thought applicable.

How do I get the alarm sounds back on?

My audiobook, podcasts and Pandora work fine.
