Most of the cruises are by ships that stop by a few very small towns. Some others include Juneau (Alaska's capital), which is a small city, too. There are winter cruises where travelers fly from different locations around the world to the interior of Alaska (Fairbanks, for example) to watch the Northern Lights. This is best done by mid September before winter sets in, or by March when the temperatures are not as extreme. These winter cruises are quite popular with the Japanese, and other asian tourists. The most popular summer cruises are the ones by cruise ships around Prince Williams Sound.I've been wanting to visit Alaska for some time now. But it's kind of expensive. There's a cruise that allows you to visit a few cities, I can't remember what it's called but its not your ordinary cruise company.
