No worries. It just sounded like you were saying that LSD wouldn't leave you messed up the next day.

Ok, see if any of you guys believe this....A doctor told my friend that LSD is better for your body than any other drug! I keep meaning to Google this to find out because I was so shocked to hear such a thing! :)

I think the warning signs are when it starts to severely interfere in your life, like not being able to resist having a drink in the morning even though you have to get up early and do something.

Fixed your typo m'dear ;)

Body maybe, but I can't imagine it does your psyche much good

There are plenty of countries/cultures where it's perfectly normal to have a bottle of wine with dinner practically every night. When I cook at home, I pretty much never pop open a bottle (unless I'm cooking with it), whereas my girlfriends' parents always have a bottle when we come over for dinner (or I make sure to bring one). It's a simple pleasure, not a luxury item or a binge drug -- or at least that's the way it should be.

I actually hate drinking to excess now. I don't get very buzzed, but I do get the nasty hangover the next day much more easily than I used to. One or two drinks in an evening is more than enough for me now, and I don't do it more than three times a week. I love the taste of a good wine, beer, scotch, cocktail, &c. &c., but my body can't handle excessive amounts of it, and that's not a bad thing IMO.

If you feel like you're drinking to escape from something, that's not a very good sign. Thankfully, that never worked for me: if I drank when I was already depressed, it made me feel ten times worse!

Another sign of alcoholism is change in behavior or personality. This happened to my dad pretty markedly as his drinking got worse and worse. Subsequently, I keep a very close watch on what I drink and why. I'm pretty darned happy with my life, so I don't think I'll go down the same road as my father; however, I must always remain vigilant and honest with myself.

I think if you have more than 2 drinks a day, or if you need alcohol to feel good when out with friends and order alcohol each and every time you go out with friends without seriously considering other choices, then you have a problem.

You will really only know you had a problem years after you already stopped, looking back to that time in your life.

I think you should stop for at least *a month*, not just a few weeks.
If a month seems undoable, then you have a problem for sure.

That's entering into Trisha show territory...;)

Trisha is so... blah, the new king is a toff called Jeremy Kyle, and he spends his mornings winding up the chav contingent marvelously. ;)

Would you give people your opinion on the iPod if you had never used/owned one?

Why every time a thread about drinking is started there is at least one "I've never drank, or have any frame of reference but…"
Thank you for deciding that my opinions don't matter. I was wondering about that, so I'm glad you confirmed it for me..

Why every time a thread about drinking is started there is at least one "You never drank so you don't know anything..."?

I have just as much right to say that I don't see the appeal of drinking as you do to say whatever it is you think about the subject.

I've been experiencing this the last few years - my body just doesn't handle it as well anymore. I still really enjoy a glass of wine, a beer, or (only occasionally now) a drink, but my body is sending me signals that I need to listen to. I asked a doctor about this a couple years ago - it was worrying me - and he said after 40, lots of women experience the same thing.

Just as well - I still enjoy it, but consume less than I used to.

Same here. Unfortunately that hasn't lowered the amount of money I spend on it, since I've come to appreciate the tastes of "the good stuff".

Fighting Alcohol Abuse

Well, some people don't want to admit that they already have a drinking problem. I used to drink like a fish, but I've decided to stop as I was not getting any younger.
