Hey,

I am wondering why I don't get an alert if someone replies to a thread I created without quoting me or mentioning my user name with an @.

It happened that I thought nobody answered me and forgot about my thread over the time because there has been no alert and recognized the answer(s) much too late. :(

The only options I see are to get email notification (what I don't like so much) when creating a thread or activate the alerts for "Replies to a watched thread" in those options on my screenshot below. I don't want to activate that option because every thread I wrote a message in appears in "Watched Threads" and I would like to keep it that way without getting bombarded with alerts. ;)

Did I overlook anything in the settings or is email notification the only way? It would be nice if there could be just another checkbox like "Replies to a thread you created/started". :)

You'd have to watch the thread. A thread you created isn't treated any differently than any other thread.

Thanks for your answer. Seems it's better for me to turn off automatically watching every thread I replied to and do this manually for only a few and my own ones and delete the watched threads list that is getting longer every day.

After that I can turn on the alerts for answers in all watched threads and won't get flooded with alerts.

But it's also a nice overview to have every thread I replied to in a list... Maybe I should simply use email notification for the threads I started.

The problem is, sometimes I don't like to open my email client for several days because there might be some emails I don't want to see, read, answer. Same with my phone. Sometimes it's in airplane mode for several days.
Sounds probably a little strange and old-fashioned but I am very sensitive and get easily stressed. Most people nowadays expect they can reach you anytime and day and also expect an immediate answer and I sometimes just don't want to read or hear anything from anyone for some days or even longer.
