Alerts or Reminders?

Is it possible to have ical or something give me an alert on any set date? my situation is that i want an alert every Thursday to pop up or something, just give me a reminder, is there anyway i can do this?

Yes. If you set an event in iCal, and ask it to alert you at a specific time from the right column you will get an alert at that time. You can tell it to alert every Thursday.

I suggest setting one that will go off in a few moments first, so that you know what they look like.
