Would you classify your singing more as the sound of smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, or glass breaking? It’s not listening for other sounds.

I’d buy an echo just for this feature, turn it on when leaving and turn it off when home. Still don’t trust it but this feature is cheap and useful!

Thanks for clarifying. I must have misread, but wouldn't chatter from an intruder be more common than a smoke alarm or glass breaking? You'd think it'd listen for ALL sounds.... guess I assumed wrong by just skimming the article. My fault.

Keyword being "in the US". As they always do, this will only be available in the US and maybe in the UK a few months later, but the rest of us will have to either switch to a US account and have Alexa and the Kindle Store messed up, or wait until they find a way of jailbreaking Echo devices because Amazon is never going to make it available. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO REGION LOCK YOUR DEVICES, AMAZON?! We don't even have broadcasting available, and I can't think about any reason why you'd do that apart from developers being extremely lazy.

Im not an expert, but I believe there are different regulatory things to file with each country. Such as the Apple Watch 4 and EKG monitoring rolling out slowly to other countries.
