Intel appears to have increased the idle speed from 800 to 1200 MHz, which will presumably impact energy draw. Nevertheless, we ascertained a reproducible increase of approximately 2 watts in all Ivy Bridge models compared with the old i7-2760QM – likely still a BIOS issue or peculiarities of the pre-production CPU. Sorry, then i miss reads,my fault.I was thinking we are discussing about mobile ivy bridge because my statement was it's not worth to wait ivy bridge because they have same or greater thermal impact than sandy bridge.
