I just got my 15" rMBP. I quickly checked which display and SSD I have. Both screen and SSD are made by Samsung which I'm quite happy about.

The screen is definitely warm which could the result of the IPS display. ( I noticed this with my iPad 3 IPS Retina against my older iPod touch TN ).

nope LG and samaung make em

There seem to be more Samsung screens this time around though. Mine is also a Samsung screen.

I assume this means the Samsung screen is better? I wont have mine until Thursday. How do I tell which screen I have?

not sure why your lucky , both are great screens. i like the LG look better though, whites are whiter

The LG's look better by most people's opinion but thats not something I care about when ALL LG's have image retention issues. No thanks!

Not all SJA2 screens are trouble free i'm afraid.

Mine is an LG and it has a yellow tint issue. Being returned for another.

Hopefully I'm more lucky with the next one.

are you joking? there was a 300+ page thread on the apple support forums and this forum and it showed that everyone down the line with an LG screen got image retention. There was pratically zero people reported that had the issue with Samsung.

Just because yours doesn't have it doesn't mean it wont get it. Statistically LG ALL Have the retention, there is something inherent in the manufacturing of them.

LG came out with a sja2 revised screen

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of reports out there on these. Only a handful here and there so far. Certainly not the avalanche of IR complaints that accompanied the launch models. For now I guess that's a good thing? I think we'll know for sure if LG really made improvements in a few more months.

You going to the store to do this? Or do you have to ship it back? That is unfortunate... :(

I've got to eat my words. Thought my LG screen was great for the first couple of months then image retention became worse and worse. I got it replaced with a Samsung screen but I still think the LG looks way better.

I've got the LG apparently. Just got it too, why would it have an inferior screen? I thought that's what everyone preferred, darn it. Thought I was lucky. How do you tell if they have this image retention thing? I don't notice anything. The screen is freakin' awesome though. I don't notice any yellow tint everyone else is complaining about. Weird.
