Fully agree. Look what has been done to one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports...

Yeah, I absolutely hate how pretty much all professional sports have had to cave in to doing even more advertising to the point that they have to put something else on the jerseys and helmets now

The helmet ones I don't mind so much, but I think the little patches for whatever advertising on the jerseys is just so tacky

Don't tell the NASCAR drivers that.;)

All those ugly patches subsidizes the less popular sports. Without the advertising, some of those sports leagues wouldn't exist.

Kind of a difference though. I dislike NASCAR, but I am a huge Formula 1 fan and those sponsors, in many cases, actually are part owners of the team (Oracle Red Bull Racing for instance) and their sponsorship pays for travel, parts, etc. I don't think Apple is part owner of these teams, this is more just advertising rather than what happens in motorsports.

Or F1. As soon as the race is over, drivers need to put on certain watches, hats, et al. And those sponsorships are included in the wearables that one can purchase.

Soccer fans are committed bunch. I don’t watch soccer but I know few who are crazy.
Football is just the fifth most popular pro league in the US behind rugby, basketball, hockey, and that weird cricket-like thing. It's uncharacteristic from Apple to settle for the fifth. And while it's number 1 globally, nobody cares about mls outside the US, not even my life-long Messi fan friends. Besides laughing at videos about those 'crazy fans' of course.

Never said popular, they have committed bunch. I was shocked when I was dragged to a soccer game recently.

I always feel like the ones that CONSTANTLY tell us how terrible soccer is are even more committed. Those people rarely skip an opportunity to make sure everyone is aware of their position. LOL

Interesting trend at Apple. This comes right at the heels of the Apple Music Half Time Show during the Super Bowl...
Wonder if this gives Eddy Cue god mode access at these events.

Are we about to see the Apple TV logo on a F1 car after the film debuts? Or maybe an Apple Airpower logo on some toilet paper?

I have NFL season tickets and go to plenty of football games. It was different experience with soccer game in the same stadium lol. More passionate and rowdy compared to NFL games.

Major League Soccer returns for its 30th season this coming weekend, with all 30 clubs set to take the field on Saturday and Sunday.

To celebrate the league's 30th season, Apple today announced that the left sleeve of every MLS club's jersey will feature a bespoke Apple TV patch throughout the season. There are 30 custom Apple TV jersey patches in total, with each inspired by the given club's "distinctive crest, color palette, and visual identity," according to Apple.

Here is what the new Apple TV jersey patch looks like for Inter Miami CF:

TechRadar's Jacob Krol today shared more details about the jersey patches. He also spoke with Apple's global head of sports marketing, Emeka Ofodile.

MLS jerseys already had an Apple TV patch for the past few seasons, but the logo previously had a generic design in white or black.

2025 marks the third year of a 10-year Apple-MLS partnership. In the Apple TV app, you can subscribe to MLS Season Pass to watch all regular season and playoff matches. In the U.S., MLS Season Pass is priced at $14.99 per month, or $99 for the full season. Apple TV+ subscribers can subscribe for $12.99 per month, or $79 per season.

New this season, Apple TV+ subscribers can watch a featured MLS match every Sunday evening, even if they do not subscribe to MLS Season Pass. The inaugural Sunday Night Soccer matchup will see the league's newest franchise, San Diego FC, make its debut against the reigning MLS champions LA Galaxy, on Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.

In related news, the Apple TV app launched on Android smartphones last week, complete with access to MLS Season Pass.

Cool, but Hockey would be better. Soccer players cry way too much at hitting the deck.

I don't watch soccer but I see this as a pretty good strategy. Get the tv logo out there and build awareness. Apple has the best content, they just need eyeballs on it.

I've been seeing a lot of people discovering Apple TV via Severance and amazed at the back catalog. Soccer fans will sign up for MLS and end up finding out about the other shows. This is probably going to turn out to be a good return on Apple's investment when we look back 10 years.

For sports like MLB and the NFL I might be inclined to agree with you but I'm just not sure if MLS has the audience to increase Appple TV+ viewership in general. I hope I'm wrong however. It'd be nice to have some good sports content on TV+ and some good announcers along with it. The ones they have now need some improvement.

Silly. I hate seeing more corporate logos/advertising on pro sports jerseys/uniforms. Not everything needs to be advertised.

LOL, someone actually disagreed with me on this? Ladies and Gents, we found the one person in America that actually wants corporate advertising on sports uniforms.

Rugby and Cricket aren't in the Top 5 here in the US.

It's the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS.
