Since the current WiFi 7 iPhones don’t support 320 MHz channel width, the benefit of WiFi 7 over 6E was negligible. MLO hardly provided any measurable impact, and if anything only negatively affected latency. Unless the iPhones 17 support 320 MHz channels over WiFi 7, it won’t amount to much.

With Apple, at least someone in the field have enough room to fix MLO and other smaller quirks in current WiFi 7 system.

MLO can cause very bad latency. Since single-band 6GHz 6E can already achieve 1,600mbps on iPhones, and Wifi 6 5GHz 800-900 mbps, the use cases where the marginal additional bandwidth of MLO is worth the trade-off of increased latency are virtually nil.

My old router is falling off the wall and has a burning-out 2.4 GHz radio which leaves the 5 Ghz for my TV, iPhones, et al! I will be upgrading to a Wifi 6E router next and fiber internet. Maybe Wifi 7 when all devices are up to speed. I am not in a hurry though because the ISP is the limiting factor. So is the price of anything faster than 1 Gbps!
