The A16 is a real bargain at €389. That's all most people will need and it was updated in March so you will get at least 5 years out of it.
I just bought one for my daughter. We traded in an old device so it worked out at €150.
It takes the 1st gen pencil and that's great because the USB-C pencil isn't as good.
When you think the magic keyboard is €299 it shows you how cheap it is.
I looked hard but could see no reason to spend €1000.

IMO such prices are absurdly high for 7-y-o tablet tech device. Yes I know they can [for now] still service music libraries, etc.

Just my $0.02.
I agree, although I’m very pleasantly surprised by just how perfectly optimized the iOS 26 is on this machine. It’s even incredible considering the last iPad I owned and used was the 1st generation iPad mini (A5, 2012) and while it shipped with iOS 6, it became basically unusable once iOS 8 got released. Meanwhile this A12X Pro does window-based multitasking as if it were always built for it.

For curiosity, I just bought a house, have no WLAN at the moment, so this machine has been extremely helpful for me for past two months. Basically I organize and plan all the house-related stuff using Reminders, Notes and Calendar, do some furniture planning and most importantly, it also serves as a WiFi hotspot now too. Very grateful for this thing.

Hehe, wake this Luddite up when on-device Apple Intelligence is necessary to read MR comments.
IMO many here think too simplistically about what AI is and will be.

A few years (or months) from now I expect AI to be part and parcel of the underlying operation that does simple things like "read MR comments." Not that AI will so much be necessary, as that it will just be there and be being used. So computers optimizing the best will be those with the hardware that supports AI.

Remember when Stage Manager could 'only work on M-series' according to Apple 😅

Clicking on an AI dossier of someone's MR comments could certainly affect the discourse.
