Like the person above, mine rebooted while on a cross-country flight. Airplane mode was on and WiFi off.

13 pro, 17.0.3.
Could something be crashing? I’ve had plenty of Macs spontaneously shutdown/restart due to system errors etc., including overnight when disconnected from the internet. I imagine the same could happen to a phone, esp. with a new OS?

It’s a bit of a coincidence that many iPhones have all crashed at the exact same time though.

My 15PM just rebooted in front of my eyes while it was sitting on my desk. At 11:52 PDT, 100% charge, had not been on a charge for for at least 20 minutes.

Since my first reboot charging crash last week I've charged it twice afterwards (every 2nd day) and no crashes thankfully so far (14PM)

I still haven’t seen this on either my iPhone 15 Pro Max or my iPad Pro 11. I don’t have gaps in the battery chart and I don’t have to enter my passcode daily.

Anyone experiencing this should be able to see in the logs what’s causing it as normally a reboot is triggered by a kernel panic.

My 15 Pro rebooted overnight, it was in nightstand mode on a magsafe charger.

Well don’t know if it’s related but yesterday my 15PM did it again, with a blank battery log, but this time with a kernel panic log :

(panic(cpu 2 caller 0xfffffff058712fb4): DCP PANIC - IOMFB: power on in incorrect vmaod state 0 -> 1\n - iomfb_ap_callee_1(22)\nIOMFB: power on in incorrect vmaod state 0 -> 1\n\nRTKit: RTKit-2413.2.1.release -)

I’m a bit worried, I reported it to Apple they ran a diagnostic but nothing. I have to keep them updated in case it would do it again but I hope it’s not hardware

I've noticed my 14 Pro rebooted overnight a few times. Luckily, I haven't missed my 2:30am alarm because of it yet. Has anyone figured out what's causing it?

Now it got me too.
iPhone 15 Pro, running iOS 17.1 Dev Beta 3, had to enter my password today after I woke up, that's the first time it happened.
It must have rebooted somewhen between 04:00 and 05:00 CEST according to the battery graph.

Edit: At this time it usually starts the iCloud backup.

still not happened on my 15 pro max. i don't charge during the night and i have my battery to stop at 80%. i'm on 17.0.3 and i've had this phone since launch day.

is this just happening during the night or has anyone had their phone reboot during the day or when using it?

if this has happened to you can you please search your logs for "panic". i'm curious if it's a kernel panic. i had this issue on my iPad Pro and Apple gave me a replacement. i wonder if it's really just a software bug or potentially a hardware issue.

How do you actually search for keywords inside the logs? My Mac doesn’t even recognise the file.

Still not seeing a reboot on any of my devices.

All my devices frequently dump all memory at night though as I’ll see a notification that automations were enabled. A version of that notification normally only shows up first turning on the device, but that says to unlock the device to enable automations. This just says they were enabled. Also any app I had open closed. I don’t have to enter my passcode though so it’s not a reboot. It might be a respring.

My 14 Pro has rebooted 3 of the past 4 nights on 17.1 beta 3; guess I'll find out tonight if anything changed in the 17.1 RC, and tomorrow night if its successor (15 Pro Max) does the same thing.

Does it ask to type in your password in the morning after you take it out from the charger?

Had it ask me for my passcode again this morning in order to enable FaceID.
Checked battery and it didn't switch off last night.
I do recall even with my previous handset every so often it would ask me for my passcode - I just thought it was a security thing?

Once every seven days the iPhone will ask for passcode rather than biometrics. If the device has been rebooted in that time and so passcode was forced then the timer will have been reset.

I haven't had this on my base 14 either. I'm scared to update to 17.1 thinking It'll happen at that point

Every update risks having a problem. As long as this only happens at night. I still think Apple knows more than what they are saying.
