All my Files disappeared in a second.......

About half a hour ago, all my files gone. I'm not sure why this happened. I cannot even find them in trash can or spotlight.
They disappeared right when i was using my computer. Does anyone have this problem before?

p.s. my major is computer science, i didn't do something foolish to my computer.

"all my files gone." - All of your files? Is your hard drive now empty?

Did your files magically reappear after you restarted?

If not, then you should be able to get your files from your backup drive - unless you "foolishly" forgot to backup your files

Reboot the computer make sure you are logging into the computer with the same account. Use the Finder to see if they're there, not just the app, i.e., word or excel, etc.

Also try Finder to see if they are somewhere.

Finally do you have a backup?
