I guess if it was honest it would have said:

"Hello Tetris fans! We've made some behind-the-scenes adjustments that we will pretend is to improve overall gameplay, but in reality, it is to provide a time-based kill switch to end your Tetris experience at a later date. Thanks for playing! (For now)"


I'd even go as far as to say that this behavior should be prohibited by app store rules.

Although, maybe Apple might want to keep policies like this around just in case they want to do something similar in the future.
 
Well at least EA was not being malicious when they took the game down, it looks like it was simply a licensing change to a different company. But I am a little surprised that the licensing requires EA to prevent the game from working after April though...
