I've had the AppleTV 4k for over a year now. Have had the Homepod Minis for like 9 months or so. When I first got them and used them as a stereo pair, and then ran the audio from the AppleTV through them...everything worked great.

Now, suddenly in the past week, many of the apps (not all of them) are out of sync. And, the thing that is lagging is the AppleTV, as you can hear the person speak, and then see the video on-screen being like a quarter of a second behind.

NOW, it doesn't do this for every app.

YouTube - In perfect sync
Peacock - In perfect sync
Hulu - Out of sync
Amazon Prime - Out of sync
Apple+ - Out of sync
Netflix - Out of sync

In each case, the ones that lag it's always the video lagging, not the sound.

I've tried everything. Restarting the AppleTV. Restarting the Homepods. Resetting the Homepods. Restarting my Wifi. I do NOT have ATMOS turned on.

Also, it's weird that some apps don't lag at all, while others do...including Apple's own app.

I fixed it...but what a pain. I had to totally reset to factory settings my AppleTV, re-download all my apps on it and sign back into everything. But now everything syncs.

Weird.

You could try audio sync option in the ATV menu, my HomePods were out of sync, used this option and it has be okay ever since.

I tried that before the reset, but no sound came out. It did it when I turned up the TV speakers, but when the Homepod Minis were selected, during the calibration no sound would come out and I'd get an error.

But as I said, after the factory reset, everything worked....even without the audio sync.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
