Getting closer to Android's notification functionality ever day. Maybe we'll get home screen customization with applets in the next 10 years :)

Maybe we'll get a freaking notification LED so I don't have to leave my freaking screen on 24/7.

You know, like in the freaking 1990s?!?

you wanna know why life was better in the 90s?

Because even freaking tape based answering machines had a freaking notification LED. Not to mention ALL cell phones.

No notification LED is INSANE.

Just as long as I can keep notifications disabled I'll be happy. I prefer to check things manually rather than get distracted.

What about an option to 100% DISABLE ALL NOTIFICATIONS and not turn them on every time a new app is installed? This doesn't have to be so hard.

I've one app- notification witch is cut off on group style. The last text line isn't shown right. Anyone else the same? I think, it's a problem of the app developers.

I am only wondering if ios11 did what it did to my iPhone 7, what will ios12 do?
I think this os needs a new device

Click one message, press Cmd-A to select all, then press the Delete key.

Or you can click one message, hold Shift, and click another message to select all messages in between.
The article is about iOS not MacOS.

Installed it on an iPhone 8, 7, SE and a 5S and on an iPad Air 2. It works great, fast, smooth on all devices and better battery life.

thank you so much. that's great

Group Notifications : I like
Instant tuning looks good, but i wonder if the "Clear all" just means no more notifications from that app, or clear all notification at once..

I can see "critical alerts" would be only useful to work out and health apps: so kind of ok i guess, although i scratching wondering what other non-work out apps could make use of this that demands "high priority" attention for users.

Richer Notifications: Look good too, would save time for people who can't remember their passcode :)

Yeah, I can't understand why they didn't include that. Not exactly difficult to do, is it? Other phones have different colours, patterns of flashing etc that you can set up which does help to help check or ignore a notification. But Apple has taken risks that have paid off handsomely in the past in the name of fashion and design, they are probably saying "You will have a phone with no flashing lights because it makes the phone less clean looking", and it's up to all the followers to suck it up. The risk is that people won't. Nice phone, the X, but I haven't heard my friends rave about it like they used to with previous iPhones.

Having said that, it's an OLED display. Nothing stopping them to simulate a flashing LED in the top corner when the display is off. No real power cost.

How about the ability to delete all mail? It makes no sense there is no way to select all email messages and delete. Who in Apple thinks it is efficient to delete one by one. Beyone annoying, mindboggling and stupid.

Who in the world thinks it is efficient to delete emails?

I’ve got +150k emails in my inbox. I only see the ones I care about. Mail works great. And I can search them instantly to retrieve one from the depths of history.

I do... i don't want my Gmail to be piled up with even 3 days worth of email in mail app i've already taken care of. If its an "accidentally deletion" and if it was important, the sender will send it again.

Search works good either case. Usually, i try not to keep more than 3 days old email.... There is no point unless even keeping 2 years worth unless you have a valid reason.. Any important stuff would be important, so its already done. I consider Archives a waste for me... My parents on the other hand..

Has search been improved at all in iOS 12? I really hate how search text suggestions appear above app results in iOS 11.

Especially since the search text suggestions are so slow to appear, so by the time you go to tap on the app you want, the suggestions suddenly appear just as you're tapping and you get something else. SO ANNOYING!

In iOS 10 it used to work perfectly... 95% of the time when I use search I'm just looking for a specific app. So I always want app suggestions to appear first!!

"Instant Tuning is a feature that lets you manage a pesky notification right on the Lock screen, giving you the tools to turn notifications for that app off entirely or send notifications right to the Notification Center."

That's nice and all, but where is the option to "Report to Apple that this notification is spam" along with the MANDATORY eviction from the App store if too many people report you're sending too much spam?

You do know you can remove apps from your device right?

Kind of cute that some people don’t have notifications arriving on a constant basis.

If I oook at my phone, odds are I have a new notification. I don’t need a tacky led to tell me what I know. I guess it is useful for people who only play candy crush on their device, using it for nothing else, and want to know when their lives are reset.

You’re welcome.
Geekbench multiple score on iPhone 8 is 10.600.

It’s still bèta, sir. iOS12 is due for the fall.
Oops. You are correct. This was an 11.4 install. It greeted me this morning prior to coffee.

Loving ios 12 beta so far. On my ipad 12.9, it is surprisingly stable, fast. Just tested this whole grouped notifications thing. Had about 50 calendar reminders in the stack and was able to delete with one button! Thanks Obama! ;)

Oh, my mistake...I assumed when they specifically said “mac mail” they were talking about, you know, Mail on the Mac.
