I had a thread over an authorization problem but this is really a customer service problem, and, well, I'm kind of pissed about it.

Essentially, what happened is that I purchased an AW7 with an Apple Card, a store credit and a trade. During the time between placing the order and it's, maybe, execution, I bought a couple of apps totalling $10.98 which Apple took from the store credit.

On Thursday, Apple charged me the purchase price, minus the credit, but had a $10.98 difference from the original purchase and wanted an additional payment for that. No problem, except I could not process the payment for $10.98 despite them having literally run my card 5 minutes before sending me the email about a payment problem. I think the problem was the billing address was an old address. Thing is, when I checked the Apple Card, via Wallet, it had the correct billing address.

Because it was the incorrect address I was not able to charge the Apple Card or even use another card.. Don't tell me how I could have done it (I changed it right where it said billing address and it never took), like 2 support reps tried to do, it wasn't possible in my case and Apple Wallet had the correct billing address. Don't tell me I could have, it didn't work on the order and the store and wallet had the correct address.

So, after 30 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong I opened a chat. The AI was garbage. Chat was garbage.

I called, rep 1 couldn't help, and sent me to Goldman Sachs because my card was being declined. Rep 2 at Goldman Sachs, sent me back to Apple. I can't remember if I spoke to another rep but I hung up here.

I called back. Rep 3 told me to call another group, that, of course, was closed.

Rep 4, at least could discern the problem, sent me to Rep 5. I'm pretty heated by now, and Rep 5 lectured me about my attitude, I had not used any "naughty" words. Also, keep in mind, that I've been told the same story 5 times now.

Rep 5 then charges my Apple Card $121 and some change. What happened to my store credit? Don't know! I'm told it will be fixed and I won't have to call back. Right now my Apple account balance is $0.00 and the $121 charge is still on my Apple Card.

ALL OF THIS OVER $10.98!!!!!

Honestly, I should have just cancelled the order but who knew..... And the thing is, I wouldn't even have bought an AW7 if not for the store credit. Frankly, I expect it to get worse battery life which is the last thing that device needs.

My house has 2 Macbook Air's, 4 Home Pods, an iPad, an iPhone 12 Max, an Apple TV, an Apple Watch, plus several smart devices specifically purchased around HomeKit, and Apple put me through this &$*^#^% over $10.98.

Just unreal.

I would call and explain the rep told you otherwise when he or she put the charge in.

It was a form email. I guess they were right, I wouldn't have to call them again. Jeez, even Comcast was never this bad.

I can't even prove the trade in. There's no transaction history on it on the store. The Apple Card shows a credit for the purchase though, which implies the credit, as I still have the device.

I can see them making me prove that I'm due a store credit, which I can't possibly do at this point, it's literally just disappeared. I do have some recent transactions on the Apple store showing applied to my account balance though, so something was there.

The issue is with the Apple Card and Goldman Sachs. In their partial defense, your transaction was indeed a complex one, what with the store credit and all. But your experience is not an isolated one. There are hundreds of complaints on this forum about the frustration of using an Apple Card and the incompetence displayed by Goldman Sachs.

So ditch the Apple card and start using a normal credit card. Then continue to enjoy new Apple products.
 
When this started, I tried to use a different credit card, Apple wouldn't process it.

This isn't a Goldman Sach's problem. They're just charging what they're given.

It's 100% an Apple Store problem.
 
I'll add that it's literally impossible to reach someone who understands the problem. I'm on, roughly my 10th person who may be fixing it.

I am told that when the watch is delivered I will get a credit of $110.65.

Somehow, I doubt it.

Something isn’t and I doubt it’s the card.

Really it’s just terrible customer service by Apple. They made this problem worse and it’s almost impossible to reach someone who can help, and at this point I want more than a fix because of the time, but they simply don’t care or maybe they care in the aggregate, not the specific.

A lot of things at Apple are pretty poor, I put up with it because they theoretically respected privacy, but they‘ve basically lost me, and for nothing.
 
It looks like Apple did remove the extra charges. They literally just disappeared from the credit card. No reversal, nothing, just gone, like they never happened.

There's some weird magic that goes on out there. Part of the initial trigger of this was a trade-in that resulted in a purchase and a store-credit. That transaction is not to be found on the Apple website in my account, neither the purchase or the trade-in.

But, at least it cleared itself, doesn't make up the time I spent but ta least they got it right in the end.
