All tests for the new macbook pros i've seen are made for 2.66 Ghz i7 MBP. For example the movie test where they made the DVD loop, it lasted for more than 6 and a half hours. Which processor drains the most battery out of it, 2.4 i5 or 2.66 i7? I am going to get 1800$ i5 model but only if it's battery is really at least 7 hours and it's performance is as better.

Overall data suggests the i7s for their minimal performance boost do create alot of extra heat and impact battery life in a negative way. You would probably see another hour of battery life with the i5 option
