Yes. We know. But these have WiFi support and the product overview presentation said 48khz with SharePlay.

Makes me think they do support it, just only over WiFi like on a home network? Or connected to the phones WiFi?

I do feel like they would have said that though, and they didn’t even mention the word lossless. So what does 48khz with SharePlay mean
Good question..

So I could buy a MagSafe duo and use that to charge my AirPods and iPhone at the same time?

Someone will mention lossless audio and that means they won't buy it. Ignore them, you can't hear the difference. You can't hear the difference on a £10,000 mastering studio setup with golden ears, it's been proven time and time again by the worlds best ears. No one here has the worlds best ears, despite what placebo they think - the upgrades to the drivers and processing are much much much more important and impactful.

If they tell you otherwise, they're wrong.

Anyone know if the dimensions are exactly the same? The current pros hurt my ears after about an hour I think they are ever so slightly too large.

Not holding my breath of course.

Well the headphone shouldn't be in your actual ear - and there are XS ear buds so.

They do not have wifi - you can't fit wifi into a device this small, it's too power hungry.

The volume control is nice, but please apple add the forward and rewind + HOLD controls so we can better control where we are, such as if missed what a podcast said, rather than switching by sections. Sad the original wired earphones had this and the $250 pro AirPods still do not.

No lossless support. No sale.
I too would have like to see lossless support, but has any brand via wireless attained it? You know Apple, they usually aren’t the first, but their eventual products certainly are worth it😃. That said would our current source devices devices support wireless lossless? I guess my wired headphones will be around for awhile😇

Qualcomm has said they expect to start offering it in products using their Snapdragon chipsets in late 2022 or early 2023 so we might see it on the next generation of high-end Android phones that use Snapdragon SoCs.

Simple A/B testing done on my Sennheiser HD450BT in wired and wireless modes using .WAV and AAC256 files demonstrate the resolution differences..

Meh. I’d rather save $100ish. I’ve actually been enjoying my AirPods 3 more lately.

I was hoping apple would make these a dual driver (3 if I lived in a dream world) setup like the buds pro 2. I’m a big fan of the 2019 Harman target.

Simple BLIND A/B testing with whatever device you want (I have Sennheiser HD800s and a £3000 Violetic headphone amp) will prove you'll never guess which is lossless and which isn't. You can verify you can't with this test http://abx.digitalfeed.net

Those controls are easily accessible from iPhone or Watch.

Tempted. But I hate the idea of disposable head phones. My og AirPods last about 45mins… all my other headphones will last almost forever…

My old ones are **** (the right one doesn't always charge) and the fit was always terrible and they always fall out.

This does not sound anywhere near worth a $250 upgrade. Not even multiple devices connected, not even better fitness compatibility and water resistance, no better fit.

I agree 100% but these people will never ever admit that they cannot hear the difference, and arguing with them is mostly pointless. I have never seen someone do a proper ABX test between lossless and _good quality_ lossy file and demonstrate that they can hear the difference with any audio setup of their choosing—much less with wireless earbuds.

My problem with airpods both pro and non pro is that they don't fit well in my ears. I doubt the new model with the snazzy fancy H2 fixes that.

  • Active Noise Cancellation - The H2 chip in the AirPods Pro 2 cancels twice as much noise compared to the original AirPods Pro.
So it cancels the same as the first firmware version of the original AirPods Pro!

First version of the APP were incredible at noise cancellation and then they kept making it weaker but improving the sound. So hopefully these are as good or better than the original without the side effects some people complained of at that time.

Actually, these look like pretty impressive upgrade from the originals. Wish it had USB-C though.

Not so good: increasing lock-in. The spatial audio features seem interesting only if you use Apple Music and TV+, and even then, they're hardly groundbreaking. I also don't have an iPhone with true depth camera, so I'm not able to use "personalized spatial audio" on iOS 16.

Interesting: even better ANC, possibly better sound.

I feel like the Airpods Pro are kind of scary, because I cannot imagine myself now without this sort of portable ANC (I often use them just to be in silence). The problem is, even with different tips, they are not that comfortable over time. The tips start to feel invasive, and having the sound drop deep in your ear, and coming from inside your head, is not the most natural feeling in the world. Apple seems to be going all in with this 'artificial environment' that's 'opened up' by spatial audio, but ergonomically it feels like something is missing.

This is a major disappointment. Apple used to be on the cutting edge with hardware development, but now a competitor is going to beat Apple to market with headphones that take advantage of advancements in Bluetooth technology.
They're earbuds, and they're not custom molded to your ears. You wouldn't be able to hear the difference. Some competitor will add it, sure, but it'll be a checkbox they're checking on the spec sheet, not a useful change.

Will there be any disadvantage using these new AirPods Pro with an iPhone 13 Pro or other Apple device that doesn't have Bluetooth 5.3?
