All wallpapers look darker "greyy" when on the home screen.Help

Hi every time I put a really nice wallpaper on my home screen it gets ruined by a grey wash.
How can I stop this?

BTW I'm trying to get a really nice shelf wallpaper if anybody can recommend on, I have made a few but they dont look that nice with the wash

No, I bought my iPhone 4 yesterday and it came with 4.0.2 so I cant YET

No, I was wondering if it was jailbroken because there's an app you can download on Cydia called Winterboard that changed my text for all of my apps to a grey color, I thought it might be doing the same for you except with your background

Seeing as though your device isn't jailbroken though, I'm not sure what the problem is.
