It's called APRIL fools day for a reason. They should have waited about 5 months before posting this.

Fake or not, that design looks great. I love the current AirPods (not Pro) because I don't like the in-ear style and the current AirPods don't block out any sound (a good thing!) so I can wear them throughout the day without discomfort or blocked sound.

These (fake or not) look they would improve on the current design for fit and be smaller overall and lower profile.

I hope this is true and that the AirPods 3rd Gen don't have the rubber tips from the Pro as I absolutely hate the feeling of rubber tips plunging into my ears.

I prefer the design of Airpods 1&2 by far so hope they don't take on those rubber tips at all.

I would happily upgrade to Gen 3 if the rubber tips arent included, please don't force the pro design on everything. Though i don't mind the squeeze controls cause im used to that from the old earpods.

The x-ray is the same image but one is squished? Right?

Doesn't look right to me either.

Looks like these are replacing the AirPods original style. I feel bad for people who cant use the Pro style and have to use this one. They might fall out.

Count me in that camp. I tried the Pros twice for my return periods. Changed sizes. Bought two different types of foam tips. My left ear is not compatible. It will slowly back out and eventually fall. Disappointing.

Only apple can put a silicon bud as a pro feature.
Nope, not even close. The gel tip has to be existent to create a tighter seal for ANC, and if you paid attention to Apples marketing, what makes the AirPod Pros “Pro” is active noise cancellation, transparency mode and the H1 Chip.

i'll never get tired of saying this: leave the original airpods shape untouched!! it's perfect for some people.
I like the original AirPods too, but this looks like it slightly improves on them, not a total departure.

Gotta remember, the EarPods design which carried over to the AirPods was the result of a massive study done at Apple to arrive at the most universally applicable design. Regardless of what anyone says, the AirPods (and EarPods) statistically fit well in most people's ears. The AirPods Pro design is actually quite bizarre, like they took the AirPods design and just stuck a rubber tip on the end of it. Not nearly as scientific.

Glad they’re not in-ear.

Not a fan of them them bringing the squeeze from the Pros though; tapping is a much broader / easier gesture especially while you’re running / biking.

i agree completely. the very first apple headphones fit my ears perfectly. the second edition was absolutely awful. the earpods were an incredible improvement over 2nd gen, but still not as perfect as the 1st. however the weight of the airpods makes them stay in my ears perfectly. i get that the don't fit everyone perfectly, and for those there are the pro's, i suppose. but i absolutely hate the fact that where you can tap on the original airpods - you need to squeeze on the pro's. wtf is that? i don't want that...

I quite like this design, as they look less intrusive than the current Pros. If we can still tap on them as on AP1-2, better still. 👍

I’ll buy these in a heartbeat. I for one hate the squishy in ear cups. I know I may be in the minority here but I’m so glad they [might have] decided to go this route. Also fingers crossed it will be the same price point (or even cheaper potentially) than they are now
