My wife has had a 38mm sport since launch days and adores it.
She has now started to come up in a rash where the sport band metal connector is opposite the watch.
A visit to the Apple Store told us she can't have a different band as she has the sport model. Fine. So we thought we would send it back and buy her the stainless steel version with a leather band, however a long phone call to apple tells us the sport band link is stainless steel itself, so switching to a stainless steel watch would only make the problem worse.

It's odd as her watch before was stainless steel.

We are now holding out for a click adapter to get her a leather band for the aluminium watch that way.

Anyone else having this problem? She is devastated. 2 weeks in and she has to stop using it due to pain.

If its just the steel pin, could you cover that up with something so its not coming in direct contact with the skin? Maybe like a small Band-Aid or piece of electric tape?

All bands fit all watches of the same size

keep that one and buy a leather loop

Put some nail polish on the metal piece

Unfortunately the leather loop isn't being made for the 38mm.

The nail polish is a good rec - this is a pretty standard solution for metal allergies.

It's odd as her watch before was stainless steel.

Possibly a different alloy, or treated with some sort of coating. The culprit is usually the nickel used in the alloy.

Most folks with a nickel allergy can't tolerate any kind of stainless steel unless it's coated. The clear nail polish trick is an old standby for such things. Renew it every month or two.

You might want to check out the 38mm Watch-compatible bands that are starting to become available on Amazon and Kickstarter.

Nail polish is a great idea, thanks.
We have click adapters ordered already, so hopefully they will help in a month or so. Just need to get through the wait.

Thanks for your help.
