    Apple,

Please provide an option to turn off the whoosh sound when text messages are sent (while maintaining the incoming text sounds).

Apple doesn't even let you change the sound. So I doubt they will add anything to turn it off.

I sent feedback long time ago about adding the function of changing it like you can other sounds (I wanted to make it the sword shooting sound from the first Zelda game. I had to settle on using that for sending emails instead, which isn't as fun or often.)

Also allow for the camera shutter sound to be turned off independently of turning all sounds off.
Apparently Apple wants you to always let people know you're taking photos.

And rightfully so. It's so people can't sneak taking some questionable photos. (Aka pervy photos)

What's so bad about the whoosh on texts?? A little confused. Seems like an odd request to me...

Turn Mute on. Whoosh doesn't play and neither does Camera shutter.

I wasn't aware that you could remove the sound or change it. This should have been available since the early days of iOS6.
I have my phone set to no sound (silence button) and only vibrating so it doesn't annoy me any more.

My guess as to why you can change some sounds but not the text/iMessage send sound is because it's now iconic to iOS and iPhones. Whenever you hear that "whoop" you instantly know it's an iPhone, even people who never owned an iPhone know the sound. Same goes for the lock sound. Iconic to iPhone and not able to change. I assume Apple wants at least a few sounds stay as their brand.

Yeah shooting photos at a quiet recital is really pervy.

Not sure why you needed to get all defensive at me on a possible reasoning as to why the sound can't be removed. I wasn't suggesting you or the OP or anyone here were taking questionable photos.

If you're taking photos at a quiet recital do what batting1000 pointed out. Toggle the silent switch on the side of the phone and you won't hear it. Seems to solve the OP's complaint and also negate the possible reasoning I gave.

I send lots of messages. Doesn't bother me. It's quite a quiet sound anyway.

While all valid, the sounds have been there like that for years now which means it's not likely that will change, at least not based on requests/feedback (of which more than likely Apple has received more than enough over the years and still didn't change anything in relation to it).

And if I never want to hear the shutter sound just because I think it's frickin annoying to hear it over and over and over when shooting I just need to turn off all sounds on the phone. So easy. I shouldn't want or have the choice to just turn that one sound off. But if I want to change a sound to something from an old video game then that's worth asking for.
    Lesson learned.

If it was a quiet recital then you would probably have you phone on silent anyway.

What the hell, do these people know what the silence switch is for??

Except for Japan, camera shutter sound will go off even on mute, due to local law, for obvious reasons ;)
