So I was trying to purchase this model at Adorama: https://www.adorama.com/acmvvj2lla80.html?CategoryID=217714
because that was the only model in stock for i9/ 32gb RAM/ GPU with 8GB models and after the purchase, I realized that it says "Open" in the order confirmation page, which if I am right, means freakin open box. So I tried clicking on other model configurations, and some models actually give the choice on the top whether it will be "new" or "used" but that particular model I tried purchasing did not even have any options so I thought it would def be a new product. Also they are selling it as a regular price. Am I seeing this wrong? I had never made purchases before on Adorama so I might have been wrong but I freaked out as soon as I saw it saying "OPEN" and I immediately canceled it. Can't contact the support obviously right now at this time.

Where does it say “open?” Do you have a screen shot?
Given that your link allows you to configure the machine, it seems unlikely that they have multiple versions of the machine in open boxes.

How did they try to scam you if it says "open"? Did they use the word "new" in conjuction with the word "open"?

I think it's best to find out what they mean by the word "open" before making any claims.

The only what you are going to find out if this is return is contact them.

The pricing looks pretty much what you can get from Apple. But, I guess they have unit immediately in stock?

I just ordered one from there over the weekend. The website had some issues and I received repeated emails that my order was on hold and soon to be canceled...

so I emailed them. Their CS has been really quick to respond and has been pretty helpful. They also have a generous return policy supposedly.

im sure you can sort this out if you contact them.

I order my laptop from Expercom February 6th. Just now getting it but that is due to Apple not Expercom. You might want to try them. They have been very helpful and I didn’t pay tax or shipping. BUT the best part is the “macrumors” code you apply. It took off over $173.00 off the invoice. Cheapest I could find. I got 16 in MBP 2.6 32gb 1Tb For $2,783.58. Anyway just another option.

I actually almost scammed Adorama. Bought a lens filter, they sent 2. I emailed them and offered to pay for the 2nd filter. They thanked me and knocked $10 off the price (they didn't have to).

Adorama is very reputable and I don't think I have had any issue with purchases from them... for the past decade or so.
