British Leyland was a political mess, first MG was the bread winner but they wanted to push Triumph because of inside politics. 2nd reliability was terrible with Lucas stuff and the garbage Zenith strombergs carbs they wanted to use and 3rd they just didnt want to modernize the MG part of the business who was forced to go on choking down the engine they had used since the early 60s and that was in the late 70s and yet they were still selling more MGs then Triumphs. Then Add on the EPA regulations. MG even resorted to simply raising the front car on the suspension to meet epa's silly bumper height requirements and adding a huge heavy bumper. And still they were outselling the other makes from Leyland. Piss Poor Management, just like what we have with the American Makes these days. Example GM/Ford not planning for higher fuel costs..........again.
