After watching the keynote I almost tempted to switch to am Xr a few months down the road if I can find a used one at a discount. The slightly larger screen, potentially faster Face ID would be worth the second camera and 3D Touch for me. It will be interesting to see if Face ID is really much faster and how the synthetic portrait photos turn out.

Just make sure the backlight issue on the Liquid Retnia Display is fully resolved. I was not expecting the A12 or Face ID Gen 2 on it.

Will be the sales leader by far for those ok with Face ID. :apple:

It's a really hard choice to be honest, curious what second hand values will do when the used XR and XS become available. They're so close in features, it almost just comes down to price. And the XR comes in actual black and white which we haven't seen since the iPhone 4, kind of cool next to the awesome colors.

That’s a good point. I would want to wait and see how the backlight and phone in general holds up before switching. I feel like there should be something I am missing, but this seems like a nice in between to getting bigger without having to pay 400 more.

How much bigger?

Thr iPhone X is the new iPad 3 - a stop gap. Resale values will drop as the Xr has better cpu, better face id and much superior camera software.

If you bought an iPhone X a month ago it will now be worth 30-40%. OLED is the only advantage over the Xr but most customers won't care as the Xr has a larger screen and colourful cases. No one will want to buy a mint iPhone X for $800 when a new Xr cost 50 dollars less.

The iPhone X is dead.

Didn't you check? Xs is 5.8", XR is 6.1".
Wow I'm lost lol. I thought it was the same size as the iphone x lol.

Whats included that makes it "such superior camera software"? The X still has a an additional telefoto lens with OIS.

I’m sort of interested in a lower cost 256gb iPhone X to hold me off til next year.

Gladly would take the X for $500 brand new out of pocket. Or I would trade my 8+ for it on a 2-year contract for free.

Haha what?! If you could find a brand new X for $750 you’d have a much better value over the XR. Not a lot of difference between the X and XS, especially not when they are both running iOS 12.

Are you high?

Dude keep your X. If I could afford it would take the X 100% with that OLED display. I’m only getting the XR cuz it’s all I can afford.

I’ve seen 256gb iPhone x’s On Craigslist sites going on sale between $600-700

Having a X and moving to XR, will probably be an downgrade itself. If you are after the minor spec bumps then go for it. Otherwise enjoy the wonderful display (5.8" Oled is too cool to let go off) and the dual camera on X.

XR is probably targetted more at Non-X people whom Apple could not convert to an X last year.

Why don’t you buy a used X then? You can almost certainly get one for less than a new Xr...

Also, one of the biggest reasons I am considering it is because of the additional T Mobile 600 MHz band. Service where I live is iffy, so having better cell service would be wonderful.

They'll drop some more because the new generation is here, for sure, but the XR is more like the new 8 Plus than the luxury X was. The X also looks like the XS in two out of three colors, so people who care about that sort of thing might still want it.

I think once the XR becomes available second hand for say 650$, the X will be very close at 600$.

I think I'd get the X, since the differences in CPU, camera and FaceID are not very noticeable and the X has slimmer bezels, OLED, luxury feel and that second camera. Not completely sure still.

Just keep your X and upgrade in 2019.

To me, going from an X to XR seems like a cross grade.

It totally is--potentially more of a downgrade in some situations. If it improves my cell service and speeds Face ID up it might be worth giving up the OLED perks. I've got a few months to think about it and am in no rush though.
