Thanks for the info.. I'm goin to try that converter and hopefully it works! Thanks again

I was thinking about getting the Alpine x200. If I don't need hands free /bluetooth will this unit also charge, play mp3's and accept incoming calls on my Iphone 3G? Incoming calls meaning it would fade out the music and I would pick it up by hand.

It'll do all of that for you. I use a Jawbone 2 with my iPhone 3G and it fades out the music when I make/take calls.

I've been thinking of getting one of these too. I have a Pioneer that I connect my ipod to, and why it can control the ipod, the controls kinda stink. This Alpine fixes everything I don't like about my Pioneer. If you want to see the X100 in action, there's some videos on youtube, here's a decent one.

Best Buy sells these, so I may use a 12% off coupon on it this weekend. :)

I'm also thinking of adding the $149 Imprint PXA-H100 DSP unit to it, both for the EQ additions it will give and for the higher voltage outputs it has (4v) versus the X100's 2v output.

For those of you saying that it does charge the 3G iPhone -- are you using the USB cable supplied with the deck or the KCE-422i high-speed one? If the former, what am I losing by using that cable versus the 422i?

Edit: Found out that you only need the KCE-422i cable for older iPods. With the iPhone 3G, you should use the USB cable supplied with the deck -- just make sure you unlock the phone first before plugging it in or you'll get an error message. Hope this helps someone else!

I just purchased this unit, got it in the mail yesterday and spent the better part of the evening last night installing it into my wrangler. I have to say I love it. This is my third alpine unit in my jeep and so far this is my favorite. I have just two questions for those who have it.

1. How do you set the presets.
2. How do you set the date and time.

I have been outside messing with it and can't seem to figure it out. Plus it is really cold outside and I don't feel like shivering anymore.

Believe it or not, there was no manual that came with mine. Kind of weird because it was factory sealed. No worries though. I love this unit. I have both my 60 GB iPod and Sirius satellite radio interfaced with it. Best HU I have ever had.

Indeed, I don't think mine came with a manual either, but it did come with the reference guide linked above. The manual is available online for download on Alpine's site though.

Can't wait to get the Bluetooth unit for hands free calls!

Just hooked up my treo with the head unit, works fine, except on the interstate. That isn't alpine's fault, just my fault for having a jeep wrangler where it is hard to hear anything above 50 mph's.

Thanks for the links for making wallpapers. I am going to mess around with that when I get home tonight.
