Updated my iPod Video classic to iOS 2.0.5. The iPod is used solely in my truck and connected to my Alpine INE-W940. The problem is when I try to listen to one of my playlists the head unit only recognizes one song and the desk shows only one file (1/1) in the playlist.

However, when I use my other iPod that has not been upgraded, the playlists are fine and the deck reads the correct number of files in the playlist. How can I restore my iPod to a previous iOS that works?

I don't think you can. I've seen this happen many times where the device won't work with an iPod/iPhone because of firmware issues.

Just to be clear, you are referring to an "iPod Classic" style device, with a smallish non-touch screen and a click-wheel interface, correct?

If so, then it's not iOS that it runs, it's custom iPod OS.

You can download older firmware for iPods at http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

Make sure you pick the right iPod model from the drop-down!

iPods can be restored to any appropriate version within iTunes by holding down "Option" (on a Mac, "Alt" on Windows) as you click "Restore".
