I have had my macbook pro mid 2010 for about 5 months now, & am hesitant to update. Everything seems to work now as it is, is there any reason to update?

are there some steps to take before & after if I update? I keep reading about resetting pram etc after updates. I have onyx installed, do I use it to do any maintenance before or after an update?

and do I need to get 10.6.4 first? or can I go straight from 10.6.3 to 10.6.5? I never did get the 10.6.4 update, was too nervous of causing problems.
