alternative to divx plugin for safari and firefox?

Perian plays all Divx stuff back within the browser using Quicktime.

yeah just use perian. it works really well, and i have never had problems with it.

I installed perian but whenever im playing back a divx file on a site, it'll say I still need the divx plugin. whats up with this?

What website is it? I'll test it out on my computer and see what the problem is.

I see what you mean. Unfortunately I don't have a solution other than just downloading to your hard drive and using VLC to play them back. If that is not an option you might just have to bite the bullet and install the DivX plugin.
