Is there an alternative to connecting to the internet through the ethernet port? I have a 2009 iMac that is really struggling to connect. I think the ethernet port is going out. This model has the mini display port and so I can't enable the Thunderbolt bridge. Any help?

ethernet->USB adapter, maybe? but I'd verify that the cable and other network bits (router etc) are OK before assuming that the ethernet port is bad. You wouldn't think that an ethernet cable would fail, but it's happened to me.

...since you mention that, presumably you have another Mac you can bridge to. If it's an older one with Firewire then you can use Firewire as a bridge just like you can with Thunderbolt.
