    Hi all,

I was wondering if there is an alternative out there for starting applications when OSX boots. I'm currently have an issue with an app, Plex Media Server to be exact, which crashes automatically upon boot. So i have to force quit it and start it manually for it to start working. This is a new issue since updating from Snow Leopard to El Capitan. So i was wondering if there was another way to set an app to start on boot, or a 3rd party program or script i can set to make this happen. It's so much easier to do via Task Scheduler in Windows, unless i'm missing something on Mac. Thanks

You could try something like this app,
    Delay Start,
With this you could delay the startup a bit until your system is fully up and running.

What you want is an apple process called launchd. Google around for that and you will find sites showing you how to use launchd. There is a free app called Lingon that will help you setup launchd using the Lingon GUI.

You should probably figure out why an app that's working for the vast majority of users is crashing for you.
